Corporate Investment Management at the Vienna University of Technology

The central tasks of corporate investment management of the Vienna University of Technology are the investments of the shares of corporate entreprises in connection with the Vienna University of Technology.

The emphasis is on a management control process whose central task area can be summarized  as:

• guarantee of economic efforts of invested capital
• guarantee of the benefit of invested funds

The guarantee of economic efforts of invested capital aims to minimize and prevent risks and is especially based on the principle of capital preservation and not necessarily on the presedence of an expected financial return.

The benefits may include image improvement, support of strategical research interests and the enabling of the utilization of knowledge.

The corporate investment management therefore aims to serve not only the administration of investments and to actively maintain and support them, but also to plan for the development of new investments. Investments can mainly be seen as strategic partnerships in order to be able to pursue set goals of the Vienna University of Technolgy. The department Corporate Investment Management is part of the Vice Rectorate for Finance.

The main focuses of corporate investment management are simplification of administration, guarantee of efficiency and transparency, active support of investments and perception of central interests of the Vienna University of Technology in the area of investments.

This is based on research activities, economic arguments, support of spin-off companies as well as safeguarding and utilization efforts of intellectual property of the Vienna University of Technology.
